In early February, our Eye Care for the People of the Mekong Riverside Project launched its first mission of the year, delivering essential eye care to some of the most remote communities along the Mekong River.

Our team once again traveled by speedboat to the village of Khoka, nestled deep in the countryside. Word of our visit had spread, and many villagers made long journeys from surrounding areas, in the hope of receiving care they otherwise cannot access.
This mission was strengthened by the participation of our valued partners from a Korean team, who provided essential chiropractic services to dozens of patients.

Over the course of the mission, we were able to conduct vision exams for 174 patients, distribute 148 pairs of eyeglasses and facilitate several cataract surgeries at Pakbeng District Hospital. To support ongoing health services in the region, we delivered a new operating room sink to the Department of Surgery and a portable ultrasound machine to the Department of Obstetrics at Houn District Hospital, providing long-term benefits for maternal health.

The mission concluded with our annual review and planning meeting, bringing together key stakeholders including the Project Advisory Committee, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health, and the Oudomxay Province Department of Health.

Your continued support makes missions like this possible. Thank you for being part of this journey to bring sight, relief, and hope to the people of the Mekong Riverside.
