This is the first time a mobile health care team visited BanKhon and Nahom Health Centers in Beng District, Oudomxay province. Health care in Beng District is provided by 6 health centers covering 57 villages. Ban Khon health center covers 9 villages (Thaidam and Khamou) with a catchment population of 4,612. Nahom health center covers 15 villages (Hmong and Khamou) with a catchment population of 4,950 people. The centers are located at 28 and 25 km from Beng, accessible by dirt roads only. They are staffed by nurses, no doctors and medical supplies and equipment are severely limited. LRF’s team staffed by Lao physicians, dentists and nurses provided health care services to 2,561 patients during 6 days.
