This is the first time a mobile health care team visited Ban Khouang Health Center in Namor District, Oudomxay province. The team was staffed by Lao physicians, dentists and nurses.

Namor district is one of 7 districts of ODX province. The population numbers 38,891 people (2014). 90% of the land is in high mountains, the economy is mainly agricultural and farming.

Health care in Namor district is provided by 9 health centers covering 74 villages. Ban Khouang is one of the 9 health centers of Namor district, it covers 9 villages with a catchment population of 4,516. It includes 3 Lao Loum villages, 3 Khmou villages, 2 Hmong villages and 1 Akha village. The health center is located at 28 Km from Namor city and is accessible by dirt road only. There are 6 nurses at the health center, no doctors and medical supplies are severely limited.
