A team of 29 health care professionals provided mobile health care services in 1 district hospital of Vientiane province (Hatsayfong district) and 2 district hospitals of Oudomxay province (La and Namor districts) during 8 days, providing 5 main services: ENT, dental, eye, expectant mother and pediatric services. ENT specialist from Mittaphab Hospital joined Oudomxay provincial team to examine patients by manual and automated equipment. Treatment and procedures were provided with good medicine and equipment.
A total of 3,359 patients were examined, treated when possible and recorded in 3 districts hospitals. This included: E.N.T. 505 cases, dental: 978 cases (including 254 children in primary school), eye: 434 cases, expectant mothers: 150 cases, adult internal medicine: 553 cases and pediatrics: 740 cases.
The team performed 68 cataract surgery cases, 31 pterygium and eyelid cases and provided 38 pairs of glasses. Post-surgery for all cases was completed without complications.
