The Lao Rehabilitation Foundation embarked on a significant October mission dedicated to improving eye care and other medical services in remote areas of Laos. Upon arriving in Vientiane, the mission began with the delivery of essential medical equipment to Dr. Ong, honorary professor at the National University of Laos.
Following this, the team traveled to Oudomxay to deliver and install a Nidek 1800 YAG Laser at the Oudomxay Eye Care Clinic, enhancing capacity for Dr. Indara, ophthalmologist and LRF coordinator, to provide advanced eye care treatments. Additionally, 400 pairs of glasses were donated at the Houn Eye Care Clinic, earmarked for distribution to residents of Houn District and nearby villages.
Marking World Sight Day 2024, the inaugural mission at the newly established eye care clinic for the people of the Mekong Riverside Project in Pakbeng treated nearly 200 patients. Comprehensive examinations and refraction tests were conducted, and prescription glasses were provided as needed.
This mission highlights the Foundation’s commitment to improving vision health and accessibility for underserved communities in the Northern provinces of Laos and particularly in Pakbeng District of Oudomxay province.
