Naxaythong Well Project

At the request of Vientiane Health Department, LRF drilled a deep well at Naxaythong village located at an hour drive North of Vientiane Capital. The borehole, 180 feet deep, now provides the community of several thousand residents supplemental clean water which is particularly needed during the dry season. HouiPhord Water Project

For many years, water arrived at HouiPhord village (a remote Akha village of Phongsaly province) from a spring located at nearly two kilometers from the village through old pipes the villagers had salvaged from a previous failed water project. Water was delivered at a central location where all people used it for drinking, cooking bathing and washing clothes. A team of health care professionals delivered mobile health care services in six main areas: dental, E.N.T., eye, internal medicine, expectant mothers and pediatric services, providing service to all patients free of charge, with no regard to gender, age, ethnicity or religion. January 2014 – ENT Surgery

It took 4 months to prepare the mission and to register patients (hyperthyroid and cleft lip/palate). For hyperthyroid cases, blood test T3, T4, TSH and EKG were done prior to the arrival of the team. Patients were examined before surgery by experts with modern equipment. Surgery was performed when deemed necessary and in order of priority. Sone

We met Sone in during our mobile health care mission in the remote area of Oudomxay Province in October 2012. Luckily, our team of US physicians was able to diagnose that Sone suffered from a congenital heart condition called Trilogy of Fallot. In her case, not enough blood was able to reach the lungs to get oxygen and oxygen-poor blood was flowing to her body, making her constantly tired, unable to live a normal life. Read more…

September 2013 – Oculoplastic Surgery

With 17 team members that included 4 surgeons from Bumrungrad, Metapachrak and Jaroenkrungcharak Hospitals, 19 patients underwent surgery in September 2013 for severe eyelids diseases, reconstruction, duct obstructions, glaucoma and other eye injuries. October 2013

LRF’s team of 14 Lao health care providers from Oudomxay Hospital provided health care in the remote village of Chom-Ong, Xay District, Oudomxay province, Laos in October 2013. The team included an ophthalmologist, two dentists, a pediatrician, a gynecologist and 5 nurses. We treated 330 patients and provided health and dental check to 216 children at the local elementary school. Some medical equipment, supplies and medicine were donated to the local health center.
