Home of Light Project

Established in 1995 by the Ministry of Health in cooperation with the Dark & Light Blind Care Foundation in Holland, the Home of Light is only partially funded by the Lao PDR government and minimally funded by the Dark & Light Foundation. Simmano School Flooding and Repairs

Simmano flooding Floods in several provinces inundated about 75,000 hectares of agricultural land in August 2008, of which 43,661 hectares of crops were damaged. The worse floods since 1966 have inflicted damage worth hundreds of billions of kip, destroying farmlands, irrigation systems, roads, schools and houses, according to official reports. Simmano School Library and IT Center

Entirely funded by the Lao Rehabilitation Foundation, a new library building was erected at Simmano High School and opened its doors to students in September 2006. With the support of Standard Chartered Bank IT division in Bangkok, Thailand, 10 computers have been installed in the new building, allowing the school to provide computer training and computer assisted foreign language courses. Simmano School Renovations

In 2003, the Lao Rehabilitation Foundation replaced the old roof and provided electric power to the Simmano High School. In addition, 32 fans were installed in 16 classrooms.
